“This spiritual path is a love story of truth-seeking and truth-finding, of the knowledge of love and the love of knowledge, and of a topsy-turvy magical ride penetrating uncharted universes.”
KAREN JOHNSON - Co-Founder of the Diamond Approach
In the necessary process of developing our everyday self, we grow apart from our truer self, our authenticity. As a result, our day-to-day experience can feel a pale imitation of something more real.
The degree of estrangement from who we truly are, and the circumstances under which this happens, vary from person to person. For many people, the associated feelings of alienation, discontent and purposelessness become an existential crisis.
This moment of truth can evoke a yearning for something different and deeper. Turning inward to discover our depth is often expressed as a desire to discover, ‘Who am I really?’, ‘Where do I truly belong?’, ‘Is there more to life than what I am experiencing?’, and ‘What else can I be?’.
Feeling the drive for self-discovery to realise your spiritual nature and recognising that the external world will not provide what you long for, is a step towards waking-up and becoming a spiritual seeker on a path of self-awareness.
Are these experiences familiar to you?
The Diamond Approach path is a teaching that addresses the heartfelt longings and questions of spiritually oriented people living in the modern world.
Introducing the Diamond Approach
Through exploring the ordinary circumstances of everyday life, this teaching about the realisation of our human potential and how to live that realisation emerged. Here you can watch people talk about their experience on this unique path of self-discovery.
From the perspective of our teaching realising your spiritual nature is often experienced as a feeling of coming home through discovering and loving the truth of who you really are.
Here you can find out more about Diamond Approach Australia, the teachings we offer, and the spiritual practices we use to support your journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening.
You can find answers to frequently asked questions such as is the Diamond Approach a religion (no) or a form of psychotherapy (no) here.

We all want to feel that we are worthy and valuable.
But most of us depend on external things, events and people to give us that sense of value and self-worth. We feel valuable if people value us, or if we do something important, or if we have things that others value. So our sense of value and self-worth can easily be taken away or get lost depending on external factors.
Is there a way that we can establish ourselves in some kind of more fundamental sense of self-worth that remains unshakeable and
constant through the ups and downs of life?
Join us in this online event to explore this question that is so essential for all of us. We will touch into that indestructible and unassailable foundation of value that nobody and nothing can take away from us.

Much like the ocean, each of us has inner depths – an entire world beneath the surface of everyday living.
Are you aware of your hidden depth? Do you feel a deep curiousity to explore it, truthfully and openly? After all, it is pulsing with beauty, life and mystery …
Interestingly, the secret depths of our inner worlds are the very things that we spend our lives searching for- love, support, belonging, meaning, joy, and freedom. In the Diamond Approach, we use the contemplative practice known as diamond inquiry, which allows you to directly explore your conscious experience just like a diver exploring a reef.
Join us for this free webinar, which is also an introductory session of an ongoing book study, to examines the practice of diamond inquiry. This practice allows us to connect with the deeper spiritual meaning of our present experience. It’s a journey in which the goal is not to attain a particular state, but rather to engage one’s personal journey. The book we are studying is titled ‘Diving into Your Inner Ocean’ by Dominic C. Liber, a Diamond Approach Teacher. (You do not need the book to attend this free webinar).
The Book Study and Inquiry starts with this free introductory webinar. If you would like to know more about the book study, check the the Book Group section of the Events Hub. All meetings will be online.
Come join us for what the author describes as an inner adventure of diamond inquiry in which you are diving for hidden treasures.

We feel a touch on the shoulder, a whisper in our ear – what is that?
We find ourselves with a sweet invitation to come on in, take a step forward – be shy, be outrageous – just come and join the great dance of living our essential life. We want to say ‘Yes!’ but so often we find ourselves saying ‘No! no! not yet, not now, not sure…’
So what is the connection between Yes and No on the inner journey?
Come and explore the divine, exquisite and enticing tension. Come and join the dance.
“Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving.
It doesn’t matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again, come, come.” – Rumi

Liberating Joy on the Journey and in Daily Life What brings you joy? What causes your unhappiness? Have you wondered if joy is the result

Liberating Joy on the Journey and in Daily Life
What brings you joy? What causes your unhappiness? Have you wondered if joy is the result of external conditions, or is it actually a natural state? And if it is a natural state, how come we aren’t happy all the time?
In this three day online retreat, we will explore essential joy—what we call ‘the yellow Latifa’. We will dive into what blocks it for us, and what opens it up.
Essential joy is the sunny radiance of our heart. Our reactions to the conditions of life tend to shut down our natural qualities of playfulness, joy, delight, curiosity. Some of the biggest blocks to it are our “shoulds”, our ideas about what is and is not an appropriate emotion, about what we are allowed to want or wish for, and about where our happiness comes from.
We will look at these ideas to see what’s true, and see if we can let go of misconceptions and judgements, so we can open to the naturally occurring phenomenon of happiness.
It’s true that the spiritual journey is a sometimes arduous undertaking, and sometimes a thrilling adventure, which requires steadfastness, discipline, and courage.
And it’s also play—delightful, light-hearted play.
The yellow Latifa makes it fun.
From your experience of participating in this retreat you may:
- see when and how you shut down your playfulness, curiosity and delight
- release the patterns that block your heart’s capacity to experience the joy of your being
- reconnect to the innate human quality of curiosity that has been squashed through conditioning and beliefs
- recognize how you can access your natural happiness even in times of great stress and strife
- understand that the closer we get to reality, to authenticity, to the truth, the happier we feel
This three-day retreat uses an experiential approach that includes teacher talks and spiritual practices such as open-ended inquiry, meditation and awareness practices.
Teaching sessions generally start with meditation followed by a specific teaching related to the theme of the retreat. You will have the opportunity to deepen your personal exploration through experiential exercises, usually in pairs or triads and sometimes in a small group, before re-joining the large group to process what has emerged in response to the teaching.
Each retreat day is divided into two, three-hour sessions with a 2-hour break for lunch.

Integrating the inner foundation of confidence, persistence and ease How would it be to live your life with an honest-to-goodness confidence in yourself? To be

Integrating the inner foundation of confidence, persistence and ease
How would it be to live your life with an honest-to-goodness confidence in yourself? To be able to see what needs to be done and take action in the simplest, most efficient way.
Life can be this way when true will is operating. “True will” – what is that? As it turns out, it’s quite different from what we usually experience or think of as will.
Our conventional concepts of will are often around ‘willpower’ or ‘iron will’–concepts which conjure up a hardness, as if ‘life is hard’ and we need to work hard, control everything, and be forceful to deal with it effectively.
Is this really true? External events over the last couple of years have really challenged this idea of us ‘having control’!
Discovering and developing true will can give us the confidence to relate and respond to reality in a more direct, grounded and realistic way. True will gives us more determination but with ease rather than hardness. It is an unshakeable inner support for being who we really are ….
As AH Almaas writes “…true will is like the grounding, the implicit grounding that serves as a confidence that things will flow. It’s hard to describe exactly, because I’m talking about it as if it is something you think in your mind. It isn’t; that’s why I use the word “implicit.” It means you function from an innate feeling and understanding that things flow. True will is right in this moment; it’s a complete openness to what’s happening right now.” (Diamond Heart Book Two: The Freedom to Be)
In this five day retreat, we will look at the obstacles to true will, how we became disconnected from it, and how our current patterns continue to disconnect us. By exploring these patterns with openness, curiosity and compassion, we can understand and release them, making way for the presence of will, our essential will, to arise within us.
By participating in this retreat , you have the opportunity to gain:
- an understanding of how you block your true will
- a clearer sense of what essential will is
- a greater capacity for persistence and determination
- more confidence, resilience and inner solidity
- a greater capacity to stay the course in life and on the spiritual journey
